The Bible is reliable in its technique for Painless Surgery

In the mid 1800's, science began to understand the place that anesthesia (and performing surgery while the patient "was under") could have on science.

In fact, the man most attributed with having discovered the amazing uses for anesthetic gases was a dentist by the name of William Morton in the 1840's. He is considered by many to be the father of modern surgery and medicine.

Do you know what William Morton said was his inspiration for this? It was this verse:

 

"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place." Genesis 2: 21
It's interesting how many of the great scientists of history were "Bible-believing" Christians. Dr. James Simpson was responsible for the discovery of chloroform's anesthetic qualities. He was the president of Britain's Royal Medical Society in the 1800's and was the personal physician to the Queen.

"When asked what his greatest discovery was, Dr. Simpson replied: "It was not chloroform. It was to know I am a sinner and that I could be saved by the grace of God. A man has missed the whole meaning of life if he has not entered into an active, living relationship with God through Christ."
